Restaurants & Cafes

of Gurubebila, Sri Lanka

Every meal of every day that you stay in Gurubebila village will be a memory worthy of a photograph for your friends and family. As with all villages, occasionally you might wish to leave and see further afield and while Gurubebila is set away from the highway and very quiet the hustle a bustle of the busy main road of the southwest of Sri Lanka is only moments away.

Look outside the village and you will find….

There are great beachside food lover locations along Colombo Matara Road the main road that travels from Galle or Colombo through place such as Unawatuna, Ahungama, Midigama, Weligama and Marissa which are all well-known and well-travelled towns of the region.

Two great food and view locations just outside of Gurubebila, but still within the Midigama suburb is favourite for many, Blue Porch Surf View Rest. It is a traveller Meca to while away some time and enjoy a great range of western and Sri Lankan inspired cuisine, cocktails, coffee and beer. Burgers, kebabs, chips (fries) guacamole, Pizzas and more make for one of the most diverse menus in the region and all while sitting on the second story overlooking the main road and legendary Rams Right surf spot. Others in that immediate area and Sri Lankan food specialists include MAMAS with a Sri Lankan food buffet and seafood specialists and actual beachside tables at GG Francis, who are seafood specialists worth a visit.

But be aware to travel to those locations you will pass the license check point on Colombo Matara Road where local police are pretty keen to catch out those renting schooters and tuk-tuk’s that don’t hold an international licence. To be fair the food is still worth the risk and heated conversation for some.
