If you are not a surfer the Gurubibila Village offers a wonder filled ocean side experience with the village natural ocean pool a visiting spot for locals and travelers alike. The sandy beach with iconic coconut trees is a magnet for those searching for the perfect Sri Lankan sunrise and sunset experience.

Coconut Point has developed into a Meca for nature lovers with beachside shacks serving fresh coconuts and fruit juices morning and afternoon. This is the place in all of those photographs that influences worldwide come to find that perfect light shimmering across the waves as sunsets in the background to the grand colors of the rainbow to glimmering golds, deep purples and dark shadows filled with silhouettes bring an end to each day.

Turn into the Village and move away from the noise of the highway to meet people who wave and greet you in the streets., Gurubibila is a little community that knows how to take care of those that travel. As you converse with your fellow traveler it becomes obvious that most of the people you meet have been here before.

150 to 200 people will take the end of day ritual sipping on a beer/wine/coconut watching the late afternoon surfers finish their session and quietly enjoy what this special place has to offer. It is quite a remarkable crowd of people. This is not a party scene but an observance of something magical that all and sundry know to be special and well earned for those that in a short time will be back to the everyday.

A large part of the immersive experience of Gurubebila village is the many local cafes and restaurants. Some are simple family home alfresco dining experiences that engage you with the locals on a real and memorable level.
